My husband & I & our 3 children spent a week on board the Alternate Latitude with Captain Steve and Deb in early June. Our children's ages are 18, 12 and 10 years old and this vacation had something for all of us. We loved swimming, snorkeling, and paddle boarding everyday and some our favorite places were Treasure Island (snorkeling in the caves), the Bitter End Yacht Club, the Baths, Sandy Spit, hiking on St. John, Painkillers at the Soggy Dollar Bar on Jost Van Dyke (for Mom) and, of course, all of the amazing sailing (very smooth - even for the 10 yr old who is prone to motion sickness). The snorkeling was amazing with beautiful reefs, lots of colorful fish, and sea turtles that would swim right next to you. We saw a spotted eagle ray the very first time we jumped into the water off of St. John. The boat is very clean and well maintained. The cabins were actually a little larger than we were expecting. Captain Steve and Deb are very laid back and easy to talk to. We did the captain-only charter and had the boat provisioned for us. We were pleasantly surprised at the freshness and quality of the fruits, vegetables, breads, meat, etc. The pictures of the boat are very accurate. Captain Steve and Deb really customized our adventure to our family even as our interests changed during the course of the week. We planned this trip to celebrate our oldest daughter's graduation from high school before she leaves for college in the fall and we greatly enjoyed having this week together as a family with no distractions (computers, cell phones, etc.). We could not have asked for a better vacation.
